| No Reds revenge for Lamps
Frank Lampard insists revenge will not be on their minds if they meet Liverpool in the semi-final of the Champions League. Chelsea's stunning win over Valencia has set up the prospect of a repeat of their controversial clash at the same stage of the competition two years ago. Liverpool are expected to overcome PSV Eindhoven after chalking up a 3-0 first leg lead and that will provide Chelsea with the opportunity to finally get even with the Merseysiders. Coach Jose Mourinho still insists that Liverpool's goal should never have been allowed because Luis Garcia's effort did not cross the line. Now with a rematch on the cards, Lampard warns there should be no talk of revenge because it could all backfire on them. Lampard declared: "Revenge is a silly thing to take into games because then you are not concentrating as you should be.
Apisai's creation shines bright
IF you happen to head out towards Nausori anytime soon, keep a lookout for some eye-catching lamps that are on display at a home along the roadside at Laqere. These are kerosene lamps but not the normal ones that you would expect rather these ones are made of PVC pipe and are painted in bright colours. These lamps are displayed at a small stall at a home on the left hand side of the road as you pass the Laqere Bridge on your way to Nausori. There's simply no way you can miss this home and you'll know when you go out that-a-ways. The brains behind the lamps is a former plumber who worked for a number of years for the State. Lepani Waqavakatoga is more than 70 years old and has been making these lamps for the past decade.
Kitty businessman says City Council wrongfully dismantled his shed
A Kitty businessman is counting his losses and contemplating legal action after the City Council dismantled a shed at the front of his shop yesterday, although he was given up to today to do so. The Council said the shed protruded too far out and was built around a lamp-post. The Guyana Power and Light Company (GPL) was contacted and had moved the wires attached to that post to another one nearby and the company was to return to cut that post down. Yesterday, after the shed was dismantled, the GPL workers removed the post. However, proprietor of the business, Rudolph Dyal, believes that the Council's actions are a clear case of victimization since there are other businesses that have built around lamp-posts and nothing has been done. Dyal also said he had earlier cut off several feet from the shed.
Recycling, geek style
In today's world with smog and the ever growing population we are becoming a little more conscious about the amount of waste we put into the world. We don't always do something about it, but we at least know it's a good idea to recycle. Why not recycle your old geeky gadgets, for example, your circuit board? The Circuit Breaker Circuit Board Floor Lamp offers exactly that, a lamp with old recycled circuit boards. Hey, why not be a little geeky about your recycling methods? However, there is a catch, as with all good things it comes at a price, $900 to be exact. Yes, you did read correctly; a lamp made of recycled goods is priced at $900. This is yet another one of those items that was a good idea but they took it a bit too far (about $800 too far). Luckily it's a fairly basic design and if you have the right friends it would be really simple to make for less than half the price.
