| Indo-Rama Synthetics bails out Tata power in Mumbai
Good news for the Mumbaites! The Indo-Rama Synthetics of Nagpur has agreed to supply 22-MW power to Tata Power Company for Mumbai that would minimise the financial capital of the country of its on-going power shortage! According to available information, the power suppliers of the metro, Tata Power Co Limited is purchasing 22 MW power from the Nagpur-based company from its captive power plant. The Indo-Rama Synthetics generates 78-MW power from its own captive plant at Nagpur and of them, 22-MW is surplus. It is because of setting up of a new captive plant of 30-MW recently. The officials of Tata Power Co are camping here for the last two-three days to sign a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Indo-Rama in this regard. However, it was delayed for couple of days because of non-availability of no objection certificate (NOC) from the Maharashtra State Electricity Board.
New York: The Bowery Hotel
The Bowery is no stranger to hotels, except, of course, they were called flophouses. For several bucks, you once got a wooden cell with a bug-infested bed, bare bulb and chicken wire ceiling. So it's no surprise that some New Yorkers find the opulent 17-story Bowery Hotel a bit galling. The latest venture from Eric Goode and Sean MacPherson, who created the Maritime Hotel and numerous botes, the hotel evokes the Gilded Age of red waistcoats, hand-set bricks and wood-paneled elevators. And the views from the upper floors are positively grand. So what if you might have to step over a few vestigial bums to get there? THE LOCATION Depends on your perspective. It's either next door to a drug rehab center, a men's shelter and a Salvation Army shelter. Or it's near the shuttered CBGB, a rash of shiny condos and a fashionably seedy corridor between the East Village and NoHo.
Riteish turns Aladdin
MUMBAI: Having usually played urbane, slightly flummoxed characters in almost all his films, Riteish Deshmukh is all set to become seriously exotic for Sujoy Ghosh's Aladdin & the Mystery of the Lamp , with Amitabh Bachchan as his genie. The actor is somewhat shy talking about this project. "I don't know what plans Sujoy and (producer) Rohan Sippy have about my looks. It could be totally Arabian or it might be somewhat contemporary. But it's an exciting prospect any which way," Riteish said. "It has always been a childhood fantasy to have my own genie to make my wishes come true. And what better wish-fulfillment than Amitabh as a genie?" What truly delighted Riteish was the director's determination to sign the actor. "Sujoy told me I was his first and only choice to play Aladdin.
